10:30 – Hakone

Hakone Shrine & Lake Ashi Torii Gate
(Approx. 60 minutes, free time)

Lake Ashi is a crater lake formed around 3,000 years ago by volcanic activity and is the largest lake in Kanagawa Prefecture. It is one of Hakone’s most famous sightseeing spots and a well-known location for viewing Mt. Fuji from afar.
The iconic red torii gate standing in the lake is a symbol of Hakone Shrine and creates a truly picturesque scene.

Hakone Shrine
Founded in 757 by the monk Mangan Shonin, Hakone Shrine has long been a sacred site of mountain worship. It was revered by historical figures such as Minamoto no Yoritomo and Tokugawa Ieyasu.
The shrine is believed to bring blessings for traffic safety, wish fulfillment, romantic success, good fortune, and protection from misfortune.

Lakeside Torii Gate
When reflected on the surface of Lake Ashi together with the outline of Mt. Fuji, the view is often described as one of Hakone’s most breathtaking landscapes.

11:30 – Hakone

Lake Ashi Pirate Ship Cruise: Motohakone Port → Togendai Port
(Approx. 30 minutes. Guests who do not take the cruise will travel by bus to Togendai Ropeway Station.)

The Lake Ashi sightseeing cruise is one of Hakone’s highlights, and the pirate ship is the most distinctive way to enjoy the scenery.
From Motohakone Port, you can enjoy views of the giant torii gate, Mt. Fuji, and Lake Ashi at the same time. On clear days, the sparkling lake and blue sky create a spectacular panorama.

One-way cruise time: approx. 30 minutes
Cruise fare: approx. 1,700 JPY (at own expense)

12:10 – Hakone

Hakone Ropeway: Togendai Station → Owakudani
(Approx. 30 minutes, one-way ropeway ticket included)

The most scenic sections of the ropeway are near Owakudani and between Owakudani and Ubako, where Mt. Fuji may be visible.
The earlier section offers beautiful aerial views of Lake Ashi.

12:40 – Owakudani

Owakudani Volcanic Valley
(Approx. 50 minutes, free time)

Owakudani is one of Hakone’s most famous attractions, formed about 4,000 years ago during the final stages of volcanic activity. Due to its sulfurous steam and vents, it was once known as “Great Hell Valley” before being renamed Owakudani in 1876.

Guests may try the local specialty black eggs at their own expense.
These eggs are boiled in sulfur-rich hot spring water and are said to add seven years to one’s life. Their black color comes from a chemical reaction between iron in the spring water and sulfur gases.

14:40 – Lake Yamanaka

Swan Beach (Hakuchohama)
(Approx. 20 minutes)

Located at Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes, this area is home to many swans and is known as Swan Beach.
It is one of the best spots to photograph swans with Mt. Fuji in the background. The swans are friendly and accustomed to visitors.

15:20 – Yamanashi

Oshino Hakkai
(Approx. 40 minutes)

Oshino Hakkai consists of eight clear spring ponds formed by melted snow from Mt. Fuji filtered through volcanic rock layers.
Designated as a National Natural Monument, the area is famous for its pristine water, traditional scenery, and beautiful views of Mt. Fuji.

16:00 – Return to Tokyo
