Kishi Station (Kishi Station) is a small station located in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, and belongs to the terminus of the Wakayama Electric Railway Kishigawa Line. This small station, which was originally on the verge of abandonment, has become a nationally famous tourist destination because of a cat named "Tama".

Legendary Cat Webmaster - Tama

In 2006, Wakayama Electric Railway introduced a "cat stationmaster" system at Kishi Station due to labor costs, and officially appointed the 8-year-old three-flower cat "Kotama" (Tama), a cat resident in the station, as the station manager.

The stationmaster "goes to work" every day to patrol the station and greets visiting passengers cordially, and his cute image quickly attracted media attention and attracted a large number of tourists to check in.

Senjojiki (about 30 minutes)
Senjojiki is a unique landscape located on the west coast of Shirahama City, Wakayama Prefecture, where sandstone geology has been eroded by the Pacific Ocean over time, forming layers of complex terrain that look like many bedrock plates stacked on top of each other from a distance. This section of the coast has a total area of about 4 hectares and can hold 1,000 tatami mats (Japanese people are used to measuring the area by the size of tatami mats), so it is called "Senjojiki", and it has become a scenic spot in Shirahama along with Sandanbei and Engetsujima.
