Please arrive at the meeting point at least 10 minutes in advance. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

09:50 – Ine Town

Ine Boathouses – “The Venice of Japan” & One of the Most Beautiful Seaside Villages
(Approx. 40 minutes, free time for walking or cycling; bicycle rental at own expense)

Ine Town has been selected as one of Japan’s 18 most beautiful villages and is famous for its unique funaya (boathouse) architecture. Around 230 traditional boathouses line the coastline of Ine Bay over a stretch of approximately 5 km, making it the town with the largest number of preserved boathouses in Japan.

Many residents still live in these boathouses today, coexisting closely with the sea. The crystal-clear waters, deep green mountains, ever-changing sky, and the distinctive colors of the boathouses create a natural palette found only in Ine. This quiet fishing village offers an unspoiled and peaceful atmosphere far from the crowds.

Recommended spots during free time:

  • Funaya Hiyori
A popular scenic café and visitor facility frequently featured in lifestyle magazines. It includes an information center, restaurant, café, and a boathouse open for visits.
Closed on Wednesdays (free exploration of Ine Town instead).

  • INE CAFE
A seaside café with modern Japanese design. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning postcard-like views of Ine Bay, making it a favorite photo spot.

Funaya Architecture:
The first floor is used as a boat storage area, while the second floor serves as living space—this unique structure is exclusive to Ine’s funaya.

Important Notice (Boat Cruise):
If you take a sightseeing boat, please be aware that eagles are common in the area. If eagles appear, stop feeding seagulls immediately and secure any food to avoid injury.

11:10 – Amanohashidate

One of the Three Scenic Views of Japan
(Approx. 2 hours, includes free time for lunch; lunch at own expense)

Located in Miyazu Bay on the Sea of Japan, Amanohashidate is ranked alongside Matsushima and Miyajima as one of Japan’s Three Scenic Views.
This natural sandbar stretches approximately 3.6 km, lined with around 8,000 pine trees, and bordered by white sandy beaches on both sides. Its shape resembles a bridge reaching toward the sky, giving rise to its name, “Bridge to Heaven.”

Amanohashidate View Land – Flying Dragon View

From Mt. Monju, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Amanohashidate. Seen from this angle, the sandbar resembles a dragon soaring into the sky, known as the Flying Dragon View.
A cable car or monorail is available (ticket at own expense: JPY 1,000 round trip).

Chion-ji Temple (Monju-do Hall)

A temple dedicated to Monju Bosatsu, the deity of wisdom and learning. Visitors can pray for academic success. The temple is also known for its fan-shaped omikuji (fortune slips).
Nearby is the Rotating Bridge, which turns 90 degrees to allow boats to pass (operates irregularly).
Admission free.

Beach Walk & Leisure Time

Both sides of the sandbar feature white sandy beaches. Visitors can stroll through the pine forest, visit Amanohashidate Shrine (known for love blessings), or see the historic Isoshimizu Well, listed among Japan’s 100 Famous Waters.
In summer, the beach opens as a swimming area with changing rooms, lifeguards, and coin-operated showers.

14:40 – Miyama

Miyama Kayabuki no Sato (Thatched-Roof Village)
(Approx. 40 minutes, free time)

Miyama Kayabuki no Sato is one of Japan’s three best-preserved thatched-roof villages, alongside Shirakawa-go and Ouchi-juku. About 40 thatched houses remain in the Kitamura area, many still used as private residences.
In 1993, the village was designated an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

Compared to Shirakawa-go, Miyama offers a quieter, more secluded atmosphere, evoking the feeling of stepping back into Japan’s Edo period.

Highlights:

  • The iconic red vintage postbox, a popular photo spot

  • Traditional roof structures such as Chigi (crossed beams) and Yukiwari (snow-breaking beams), showcasing the wisdom of traditional architecture

  • Miyama Milk & Ice Cream, a local specialty

  • Miyama Folk Museum, where visitors can explore the interior structure of a thatched house and view traditional household tools

15:20 – Return Journey

The tour begins the return trip. Return times are for reference only and may vary depending on traffic and on-site conditions.

17:20 – Osaka

Drop-off at Nippombashi Exit 2 area. Tour ends.

After the tour, guests may continue exploring:

  • Shinsaibashi: Osaka’s most famous shopping street with department stores, drugstores, and brand shops.

  • Dotonbori: Osaka’s iconic food district, famous for takoyaki, okonomiyaki, ramen, and popular restaurants such as Kani Doraku.
