(Approx. 50 minutes; lunch at your own expense)
Restaurant: Tsurigane-an
Address: 46 Motomachi, Shiroishi, Miyagi 989-0275, Japan
Shiroishi Uumen (pronounced “u-men”) is a traditional specialty of Shiroishi City with over 400 years of history. These handmade noodles are uniquely short—about 10 cm long—making them easy to eat and distinct in style.
Unlike regular noodles, uumen is made without oil, using only high-quality wheat flour and pure saltwater. Light, refreshing, and easy to digest, it is suitable for both children and the elderly. The dish also carries a touching Edo-period story of filial devotion, earning it a reputation as a meal that warms both the body and the heart.
14:00 | Yamagata
βΌ Ginzan Onsen Town – A Four-Season Hot Spring Street
(Approx. 90 minutes, free exploration)
Transfer via shuttle bus from the Taisho Roman Museum to Ginzan Onsen
Address: Ginzan, Obanazawa, Yamagata 999-4332, Japan
With over 500 years of history, Ginzan Onsen is a beautifully preserved hot spring town once famed as a therapeutic retreat during the Edo period. Wooden ryokan from the Taisho to early Showa eras line the banks of the Ginzan River, while gas lamps illuminate the stone streets at dusk, creating a nostalgic and romantic atmosphere—especially magical in winter snow.
Ginzan Onsen is widely believed to have inspired the bathhouse scenes in Spirited Away, and fans of Demon Slayer recognize it as the rumored model for the Swordsmith Village. Each season offers breathtaking scenery, from fresh summer greenery and fiery autumn foliage to serene snow-covered landscapes.
During your free time, enjoy strolling through the town, visiting free footbaths (Waraku Ashiyu), browsing souvenir shops with traditional wooden dolls, and sampling local street foods such as curry bread made with Yamagata wheat or fragrant standing-style tofu.
15:30 | Return Journey
Depart Ginzan Onsen and begin the return trip to Sendai
(Approx. 2–2.5 hours by vehicle)
18:00 | Sendai
Arrive at JR Sendai Station and conclude the tour.
Guests using the hotel pick-up service will be dropped off at their accommodation.
JR Sendai Station is the largest transportation hub in the Tohoku region, with Shinkansen, JR lines, subway, and highway buses. Directly connected to S-PAL Sendai, the complex features over 300 shops and is an excellent place for souvenir shopping.
