09:00 Nagoya

Start your beautiful journey today
Meeting point: In front of Nagoya Station, at the MINISTOP convenience store behind BIC CAMERA (Nagoya West Exit)

10:20 Gifu

Ena Gorge Observatory (approx. 30 mins)
Ena Gorge, located in eastern Gifu, is a scenic area featuring dramatic cliffs and strangely shaped rock formations formed by natural erosion. The artificial lake created by the Ōi Dam on the Kiso River extends upstream toward Nakatsugawa. The “umbrella-shaped rocks” are designated as a Natural Monument of Japan, and together with reddish rocks covered in brown moss, they represent the iconic scenery of the gorge. Throughout the year, cherry blossoms, azaleas, and autumn foliage enhance the beauty of the massive rocks, attracting many visitors.

11:30 Gifu

Magome-juku (approx. 150 mins, free lunch time included, lunch at own expense)
Magome-juku (a post town on the Nakasendō route) is part of the historic highway once used during Japan’s Edo period. It is listed in the Michelin Green Guide with one star. The name “Magome” comes from its steep terrain, where horses had difficulty passing, so travelers had to leave their horses at the inn station.

During the Edo period, the Nakasendō was one of the main routes connecting Kyoto and Edo (Tokyo). Unlike the coastal Tōkaidō route, which required river and sea crossings, the Nakasendō was considered safer, though longer. Magome-juku sits at the southern end of the Kiso Road, once a busy network of 11 post towns along the Kiso Valley.

The preserved old street is lined with traditional wooden buildings, stone-paved slopes, and waterwheels, recreating the atmosphere of the Edo era. The entrance to the town features a “masugata” defensive design with right-angle stone walls, historically used to slow down potential invaders. Walking through the sloped streets gives a nostalgic and scenic experience.

15:00 Gifu

▼ Toki Premium Outlets (approx. 120 mins)
“Toki Premium Outlets” features a streetscape inspired by the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA, and includes around 140 brand stores. It offers both Japanese and international brands, including fashion, accessories, household goods, and lifestyle items.

Popular stores include Le Creuset, Francfranc, T-fal, LEGO, and Miki House, making it suitable for both adults and families. The food court offers a wide variety of dining options such as Nagoya-style ankake spaghetti, fried chicken, oyakodon, ramen specialties, coffee shops like Tully’s Coffee, and popular snacks like Garrett Popcorn Shops and curry udon.

17:00 Return

Depart back to Nagoya Station. The return time is approximate and may be earlier depending on traffic conditions and smoothness of the day’s itinerary.

18:50 Nagoya

Arrival and tour ends at Nagoya Station.
